AGEING IS THE AGGRESSIVE PURSUIT OF COMFORT.

You’ve worked hard, raised a family, maybe even raised more than one family. Done Life. And here you are retired. Now it’s MY time, yes? Gonna put my feet up and enjoy my retirement, yes? I’ve earned this rest. You have. No more stress. Maybe.

Ever noticed how many people die soon after they retire? No? Well I have a pension from my time as a Police Officer. It’s a really good pension. You can tell it’s a good pension because shortly after I retired they changed the terms of the pension. Guess what? The new terms weren’t/aren’t as good as the pensions we receive. Why was it so good? Because we weren’t expected to live that long after retirement. True story. In fact, during those days the pension for female officers was less than a male’s, why? Because they statistically lived longer than males so would claim a pension for longer.

Anyway, I digress. If you retire, sit and watch TV for 12 hours a day, never exercise, never even walk anywhere, guess what? You will become a person who CAN ONLY sit and watch TV all day and CAN’T EXERCISE OR EVEN WALK ANYWHERE.

Then our minds and bodies will start to rot and rust. Then we’ll die.

It doesn’t have to be that way though and I figure you don’t want it to be that way or you wouldn’t be reading this blog.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of bad advice out there, mostly from well meaning, well educated people and people who love and care about you they say,

Don’t overdo it at your age..

Don’t go out it’s too cold,

Don’t go out it’s too hot,

You shouldn’t be playing squash/tennis/rugby/football at your age

Why do want a motorbike at your age?

RUBBISH!

Well meaning, but RUBBISH!

Retirement is the time to do all the things you always wanted to do but didn’t because you were too busy working, raising a family, growing a business etc.

And the most important thing now is to live long enough to enjoy this time. To live longer and better you need to learn new skills. Things have moved on as regards health and fitness but now the knowledge of how to slow down the ageing process is growing exponentially. Treat this blog as your way to upgrade your life. It just so happens that health, fitness, challenges and adventures are my thing, so I want to pass on this knowledge to you guys

It most certainly won’t be all my own work, I will steal it from people who know better than me, pass it on to to you and give them credit for it. What will do though is give you my opinion as someone who has experience of what I’m talking about.

If I’m rambling, bear with me because blogging is new to me..

Blogging at your age, don’t be ridiculous
